CHANGE TO EVENT INFO FOR SATURDAY 28 FEBRUARY
The Summer Saturday event for 28 February will not be starting from the Hume Oval as previously advertised - it will be starting from the Botanic Gardens picnic grounds, off Regreme Rd, Picton. There are toilets and BBQs as well as shelter.
SHOO's Presentation BBQ
Another beautiful evening sitting in the Davii's back yard.
It wasn't quite warm enough for us to venture into the pool, but we were all suitable impressed with Paul's SHED.
The table, as usual, was groaning with food and it can't be denied that Maxine's vanilla slice took pride of place.
The biggest challenge was eating it without wearing all the gooey centre.
Pres Pete took the floor and handed out all of the awards, cups, shoos and medals to those
present. From the club point score Lily Davis tied with Corinne Fulford for the Junior Shoo, Lyn Malmgron was
presented with the Ladies Shoo, and Pete was presented with the Big Shoo.
Corinne won the Senior Junior's Cup for her contribution to Shoo events. Peter presented the
Shoo's President Award to Lyn Malmgron for her initiation of the Shoo's Summer Saturdays.
Lyn with her awards. Lilly with Little SHOO.

ANOTHER GREAT EVENT FROM SHOO
SHOO's Sprint #4 at UWS Parramatta.
A new assembly on a new UWS Parramatta map made for good numbers and interesting orienteering. The
runners navigated around the buildings of the Female Orphan School (1813) and the bright new architecture of the modern
university. The main building of the Orphan School is the oldest 3 storey building in Australia.
The course was interesting with lots of changes in direction and a number of crossovers. There
were a number of opportunities to run longer legs over grassed slopes.
Control number 18 seemed to cause the greatest problem. The seat under the skirts of the enormous
fig tree caused a few runners heartache when they realised they missed punching it when they ran onto the restored
furnace and chimney in the middle of the map. There are still a number of runners who ran through gardens and areas
marked green. This doesn't impress the landowners or the clubs who have mapped the area.
Michael Burton showed his power as a runner with his charge up the hill to the finish to nudge
SHOO's Ian Myer down one place. Lisa Grant and Barb Hill battled it out with only 50 seconds separating them.
The high point for the younger orienteers was watching the Parramatta Rivercat travelling so
close to the shore that they could wave to the commuters on board.
Thanks to Neville, John and Peter for their help and support in a rather frantic day.
